Take a look at the people around you. Now, make a list of the toxic ones. (You know who I’m talking about.
Cut them out.
Cut them out of your life, now.
It’s spring cleaning season, ladies.
You’re welcome.

First of all, I am deeply sorry to my dedicated readers for my prolonged absence. A new job, a family illness, and a suicide attempt from a dear friend forced me to reconsider what’s important in my life.
After three “soul-searching” months, I’ve decided to end my time here at Black & Femme. I still believe black femininity is important for uplifting black women’s social status; however, I’ve set my sights beyond that, focusing on survival skills needed to live well regardless of any economic situation.
If you wish to continue learning about how you can develop your femininity, I encourage you to read The New Elegant Black Woman (who has recently begun contributing to Beyond Black & White), The Feminine Black Woman, and The Proper Lady.
If you would like to see what I’m doing, I’ve focused my energy at my new blog, Greens and the City.
Black & Femme was a short-lived project, but an enjoyable one. Thank you for being a part of it; I wish you all the best of luck.
In love,
KC

“As more [black women] get out in the world and develop their talents and skills in various unstereotypical ways, they can much more easily be spotted and viewed in unstereotypical ways.”

Inspired by The New Elegant Black Woman’s 90′s throwback, I couldn’t help but feature En Vogue for today’s music.
When I think of black femininity, this video always comes to mind:
